The True Purpose of Yoga

Most people in the Western world see yoga as a 30-minute class at lunch or a session at the local yoga studio. But did you know that yoga was never intended to be practiced solely for strengthening the body and increasing flexibility?

Yoga's origins are deeply spiritual and meditative. Physical yoga, known as Hatha Yoga, has been repurposed in the West primarily as a fitness routine. While staying fit is important, the ancient purpose of Hatha Yoga was to build resilience in the body, preparing it to handle the energy, or prana, that accompanies meditation.

Additionally, yoga was used to release stagnant, negative energy from the body before meditation. Throughout our daily lives, we accumulate negative energy, especially in today's bustling cities, traffic, and demanding jobs. Before transitioning into a meditative state, it’s crucial to rid ourselves of this stagnant energy.

Simple yoga postures, gentle twisting, stretching, and even shaking the body help expel unnecessary prana. This practice is a form of energy healing. The beauty of this concept is that you don't need to meditate to benefit from this energy release. Next time you feel stagnant, stuck, grouchy, angry, or sad, try some light exercises or yoga postures to release negative energy and shift your mood.

Here's to embracing yoga's true purpose and finding balance in every moment.

Mind Mastery Techniques

Find Your Calm Amidst the Chaos

Picture this: You're standing in a busy train station. People are moving in all directions, carrying luggage, tickets in hand, some pulling kids or pushing strollers. Some are joyful, perhaps on their way to a weekend vacation, some are stressed, overwhelmed by a fear of traveling, and some seem downright angry, annoyed to be heading on yet another business trip. It's your first time in this train station, so you're trying to figure out where to go to catch your train. You're being bumped from behind, from the front, from the left, and the right. There are so many people that you can't find a free moment to glance down at your ticket without risking being run over by the crowd.

Got it? Now consider, is this what your mind feels like? For most people, the answer is an overwhelming yes. We are constantly bombarded with relentless thoughts, tasks, and pressures. Now imagine you have a magic button that allows you to freeze time and stop everybody in the train station in their tracks. You push the button and now you can breathe, look at your ticket, get your bearings, and proceed calmly to your train before pushing the button again and letting everyone resume their activities.

Sounds pretty nice, right? This magic button is what happens when you dedicate yourself to stilling the mind through meditation, prayer, mindfulness, or similar activities. When you still the mind, you automatically enhance your focus.

This is a true superpower. Everything becomes easier, clearer, and more possible. The world is your oyster. The inner peace that comes with a still mind allows you to focus intently on what matters to you. When you can focus, you can accomplish more and create space in your life for all the things you want and love to do.

This isn't an overnight process, nor is it simple. Like all things, it takes practice to cultivate the prana of stillness. If you're interested in learning more about meditation and mindfulness, we are here to help. In the coming months, I will be offering a monthly 'Learn to Meditate' class as part of the Sturdy Oak Wellness Tribe. If you're interested in being the first to know about this group learning opportunity, reply to this email for more details on how to reserve your spot!

Balancing Your Emotional Well-Being

The Hidden Energetic Impact of Alcohol

Did you know that alcohol has energetic properties that activate the energy center in our body responsible for anger? This happens without exception. While alcohol also triggers more pleasant emotions, ultimately, no one is free from the less desirable emotion of anger. Although not everyone will react to this anger in the same way, alcohol consistently triggers it within the energy body of the consumer.

Some people may have visible, violent outbursts, while others may experience quiet, remorseful anger directed towards themselves or aspects of their lives. Some may get so accustomed to the feeling that they no longer associate their anger with alcohol consumption. Others might be adept at hiding this anger deep within. Regardless of the manifestation, it’s happening.

If you’ve been consuming alcohol for a long time, you are probably used to at least a low level of anger, finding outlets for it by verbally or mentally releasing it at unsuspecting drivers, news outlets, employees, or even at the dishes.

The good news is that the energy center contaminated by alcohol—whether from short-term use or a lifetime of addiction—can be cleansed and healed with Pranic Healing and other energy healing modalities.

The key is awareness. I’m not suggesting that you never drink, unless that’s what’s best for you. I still consume alcohol in small amounts occasionally, but I’m keenly aware of the emotions it tends to trigger in me and how to cleanse the energy centers responsible for them when I do. If you want to learn more about how Pranic Healing can help heal emotions like anger and addiction, please set up a 30-minute introductory meeting with me using this link!
