Stop Cursing Your Body

Yesterday in the grocery-store checkout line a man half-joked to the cashier, “Getting old really sucks, huh?” Everyone chuckled politely—except my spine, which bristled at the spell he’d just cast on himself.

One of the worst things you can do for your health is curse your own body. Every time we trash-talk our backs, knees, or bellies, we sabotage the body’s built-in power to heal.

Contrary to popular belief, aging does not require chronic back pain, an ever-expanding waistline, or that dull ache “everywhere.” Yet I rarely go a whole week without hearing someone sigh that aging is a downhill slide.

Remember: the universe is reciprocal. What we send out, we get back. That’s karma—“a law, not a choice,” as Master Co says. You can’t wake up and opt out of gravity, and you can’t sidestep karma. Mutter, “My back hurts because I’m getting older,” and you practically invite the pain to unpack a suitcase.

Pain isn’t normal; it’s a messenger. Instead of cursing, thank your body for waving a flag. Maybe you need a doctor’s opinion, or maybe you’re clinging to old emotions. Either way, pain is energy in motion asking to be acknowledged—never a life sentence.

Need proof that decline isn’t inevitable? Meet Richard Morgan, 93-year-old indoor-rowing world champion. He still rows 20 miles a week and keeps setting age-group records. Imagine telling Richard that forty is “over the hill”!

So next time you’re tempted to gripe about reaching the “ancient” age of forty, fifty, sixty, or beyond, remember: your words are choices. Say, “I’m strong and healing,” and watch your body respond. Say, “I’m falling apart,” and your body will oblige. The choice is yours.

Mind Mastery Techniques

From “Have to” → “Want to”: Re-energizing Your To-Do List

From “Have to” → “Want to”: Re-energizing Your To-Do List

How often do you catch yourself saying, “I have to do this,” or “I’ve got so many things I have to do”? If you spend a lot of time in that “have-to” head-space, this article is for you.

First, know that I get it. I’ve long been a have-to person—after all, if I don’t take care of these things, who will? Culturally, many of us are taught that have-to living is simply “the way of the world”: you have to go to college, you have to land a good job, you have to get a mortgage, and on and on. We’re conditioned from the start. The good news? Now is a perfect time to pause, reassess, and liberate yourself from that mindset. Your future self will thank you.

Living in have-to mode is stressful. It breeds overwhelm, burnout, and exhaustion. I’m not saying you should abandon every responsibility; rather, notice the energy you bring to each task. In truth, you don’t have to do anything—there is always another path. I like to ask myself, “What would I do if I didn’t have to do anything?” More often than not, I still choose the same action, but the shift from have to → want to dissolves the stress.

Still skeptical? Picture a typical evening: after a long workday, you glance at your calendar—dinner to cook, soccer practice to drive to, baths to run, a house to tidy. Now imagine you didn’t have to do any of it. Which activities would genuinely spark joy? Maybe cleaning never thrills you, but if a tidy space uplifts your mood, then on some level cleaning does make you happy. The key question is: Am I doing this out of genuine preference, or to meet an expectation (mine or someone else’s)? When it’s the former, shifting your mindset from obligation to choice changes everything.

What we experience externally mirrors the energy we project. An unmanageable schedule often reflects our internal state. Perhaps constant busyness is how we feel seen, or maybe we tie self-worth to perpetual achievement. Some of us have learned that stress brings the attention or support we crave. Whatever the story, the power lies in awareness. Notice each time you feel you have to do something and gently ask, “Why?” That question is the first step toward authentic living—where you do what you want, when you want. Sounds nice, doesn’t it?

Balancing Your Emotional Well-Being

Love as Your Shield

Love as Your Shield

Emotions are contagious—every single one of them. Picture an encounter you’ve had (or might have) with someone who’s genuinely angry. You were having a perfectly good day, and now—bam—you’re face-to-face with a person who clearly isn’t. Maybe they’re criticizing you, blaming you, or just griping about the world. Most of us walk away from that kind of interaction feeling anything but joyful. Why? Because emotions—and the words that carry them—are energies. Just as a physical ball of mud can splatter onto your clothes, someone’s negative energy can stick to your own aura…unless you know how to keep it out.

In this scenario, the best defense is a strong offense. Emotional energies vibrate at different frequencies. Anger, frustration, and hatred sit low on the scale—imagine the deep rumble of a tuba. Love, forgiveness, and peace soar much higher—think the clear, bright tone of a piccolo. And while tubas can be loud, that piercing piccolo note always cuts through the grumble and rumble.

The takeaway: positive emotions can neutralize negative ones—at least for you. If someone is interacting in a way that feels unpleasant, remember you’re not obliged to be a target. Reacting at the same low frequency (raising your voice, firing back darts of criticism) only multiplies the mud. The most powerful antidote is to choose love.

The simplest technique? Silently repeat the word “love” to yourself while you’re in the moment. If an outward smile won’t trigger the other person, let one rise naturally from your heart. It’s not about appearances; it’s about genuine intent. When you radiate love, your energy field stops accepting new “negative customers,” and very often the other person calms down on the spot.

And if they don’t? You still walk away lighter. Offering love and maintaining your own peace is self-love in action.
