Perfection is one of the hardest things to manage. When we expect ourselves or others to be perfect, we’re setting ourselves up to fail. No one is perfect, and the very concept doesn’t even make sense. Everyone—and every body—is unique. Trying to create an ideal definition of perfection is flawed from the start. Sure, we live in an age with plenty of scientific understanding about our bodies, but even the best models can’t account for family history, belief systems, emotional resilience, or mental health. Expecting someone to do everything "perfectly" just because the data says so doesn’t work, especially when it comes to what we eat.
Instead of aiming for perfection, we should strive for "pretty good." Some call this the "90% rule" or "zig and zag," but the point is to do our best and be okay with occasional slips. If you’re slipping more than 90% of the time, it might be time to reflect and see if your actions align with your goals.
In our fast-paced world, eating well 90% of the time can be tough. It’s easy to grab a quick sandwich or skip breakfast. Over time, these choices can impact your health. So, what can you do? The key is simple—do your best. Whether you’re constantly traveling, eating at restaurants, or grabbing snacks on the go, you don’t have to settle for poor health or rely on punishing workouts to "make up" for indulgences. Here are a few ways to eat healthier on the move:
These are just a few ways to maintain healthy eating, no matter the situation. If you’d like a complete list of healthy grab-and-go options, message me, and I’ll send you our "Healthy Foods to Go" Cheat Sheet.
Are you a planner, or do you prefer to "go with the flow"? As with most things in life, balance is key. But if you've never tried planning for yourself, it might be time to start. We often spend so much energy planning for others—whether it’s for work, family, or community—that by the time we get home, we have nothing left for ourselves. But as the saying goes, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” This applies to personal goals just as much as professional ones, whether it’s managing finances, hobbies, or self-care.
When we don’t plan, we often invite stress and anxiety. Why? Because we become subject to someone else's plan. While "going with the flow" can be exciting, doing it too often leaves us neglecting our own needs and feeling overwhelmed. On the other hand, when we prioritize ourselves and set boundaries, we make room for self-care while still being available for others.
If we want something to happen, we have to write it down. That’s the first step in turning a dream into reality. Commitment is no different. It’s not enough to say, “I want to get a massage soon.” Instead, plan it: “I’m getting a massage on Friday.” Put it in your calendar. This act of commitment sets things in motion and helps remove obstacles. By committing, we create our reality.
The trick? Apply this not only to external obligations, like work or paying taxes, but to your personal needs. When you honor your own priorities, stress melts away because you're living in alignment with what truly matters to you.
Simple planning, clear commitments, big impact.
Is your week off to a rough start? Maybe the traffic feels worse, your kids are more restless, or everything just seems a little harder than usual. Emotions may be running higher than normal—your highs are higher, and your lows are lower. But did you know this could be linked to the full moon?
The moon’s energy influences more than just the ocean tides. During a full moon, when the sun fully illuminates the moon, the energy around us intensifies. It's like a magnifying glass focusing light, except it’s focusing energy—particularly on our emotions.
You might notice that hospitals, law enforcement, and even prisons experience more activity during full moons. This happens because our emotions, like the tides, rise and fall with the moon's energy. The full moon is a powerful time for spiritual growth, meditation, and healing—but it can also bring emotional turbulence.
So, be mindful of your emotions this week. The energy around us is stronger, which means it’s a great time to focus on healing and transformation. Just remember to stay grounded and avoid letting overwhelming feelings take over.
