If you've ever gone on a hike through a beautiful, serene environment, you've likely felt the powerful energy of nature. Escaping the rush of city life, the concrete jungles, and the constant buzz of electricity, immerses you in a world where prana, or life energy, flows freely. This natural energy is not just calming—it’s also healing.
Forests, beaches, parks, rainforests, and botanical gardens are filled with trees, flowers, shrubs, and water, all radiating a specific energy that benefits our bodies and minds. When we are in these natural environments, the energy around us helps to break down and release the stress, worry, fear, anger, frustration, and depression that we accumulate in our daily lives.
In these tranquil settings, the unwanted negative energies are broken down by the qualities of this specific type of prana, leading to inner reflection and new perspectives. We drop our guard, allowing old thought patterns and beliefs to dissolve. This fosters greater acceptance, understanding, and emotional healing.
Every day, we are bombarded with demands for our attention—from texts to social media, emails, and news updates. For example, after just three days without cell service, I returned to 57 text messages. This constant connectivity can be overwhelming. A simple hike, removing these demands, offers a chance for healing, clarity, and peace, gifts straight from nature.
So, the next time you feel overwhelmed, consider taking a nature walk. Let the energy of the natural world restore and refresh your spirit. Oh and leave your phone at home!
Do you ever wonder why our minds instinctively label, judge, and assess everyone and everything? It's as if we believe it's our job to evaluate everyone we meet, compare them to ourselves, and define our relationships based on these judgments. Just thinking about it is exhausting!
I've made it a practice to catch myself when I start summing up anyone or anything. With a simple perspective shift and a mantra to remind yourself of your purpose, you too can free your mind and life from this exhausting habit. The solution is simple: stop.
We are usually not correct in our assessments. It's impossible to accurately summarize someone’s intentions, beliefs, and behaviors from our own limited perspective. When we judge, we create an image of the person based on our own insecurities, often to make ourselves feel better or justified. This tendency to divide, gossip, and criticize can be mitigated with awareness.
We really don’t know people well without taking the time to understand them. Great leaders, whether spiritual, governmental, or otherwise, know that the key to leadership is to understand rather than judge. An even better leader considers their own role in the behavior of the person in question.
In your life, you've likely made decisions about someone or something that might not be entirely accurate. We think we know everything about everyone, using this perceived knowledge to build or break relationships. A better approach is to meet everyone with openness, curiosity, and humility. Recognize that everyone has something to teach us and that no one is perfect. Try adopting this mindset for a day and see how it feels.
Here's a mantra you can use in almost any situation. When you feel the need to classify, judge, label, or write somebody off, consider the phrase, "I will not judge myself, I will not judge others." This will stop the judgment in its tracks.
I've often discussed energetic, or pranic, connections in this newsletter. Every interaction we have can create a connection, and sometimes we need energy healing to remove some of these ties. However, not all connections are negative. In fact, certain connections are essential for us to feel happy, fulfilled, and blissful.
The primary emotion behind the connections we need in life is love. Whether you’re the toughest person around or the most emotionally needy, we all need love in our lives. When we experience a lack of love, it’s important to look within ourselves first.
Love is an energy we give physically, with our thoughts, and with our emotions. With the constant demands and pressures of daily life, we often forget to express love. Imagine spending five minutes with your eyes closed, thinking of all the reasons you love your partner—their positive qualities, good memories, and the joy they bring to your life. This process isn’t always our go-to when we think about those we love. Instead, we often dwell on the ways they make us feel bad. This can be applied to any relationship: with your boss, kids, parents, siblings, or neighbors.
Every problem in the world could be resolved with this approach. I am reminded of the song "Give It Away" by Ziggy Marley. In this song, he says, "Only if you give it away, can love be love." This is the essence of a happy, love-filled life.
So, next time you’re having a rough day, try this. Whether at home with your family or in a crowded space, think kind thoughts and feel happy feelings towards another person. You can do this in silence and observe how your attitude towards that person changes and how they respond. Don’t be surprised if total strangers approach you after you do this; they are sensitive enough to feel the loving energy you are silently sending.
It may take some practice to sincerely send love from your heart to that of a stranger, or even to a partner. This is not for the faint of heart, and will be challenging, especially for those that we've already decided have hurt us. Try it and see the difference it makes!
